In June Katestone, in partnership with The Eco-efficiency Group (TEG), were awarded a NSW EPA tender for the Hazardous Air Pollutant Review of Priority Facilities project. Our specialist skills in air quality and data processing, combined with TEGs capability in industry engagement and identification of best practice, proved to be a winning combination. This is a great initiative from the NSW EPA. The primary objective of the project is to identify, evaluate and implement international best practice measures to reduce emissions of hazardous air pollutants from priority industrial facilities in NSW. Building on recent NSW EPA analysis of the 2003 and 2008 air emission inventory data, the project will include an assessment of the relative risk to the environment posed by air pollutants and identify options for appropriate regulatory response. Our work on the project will help to focus regulatory effort and to improve the capacity for regulatory decision making relating to hazardous air pollutants.
